The Bedford Volunteer Firefighters Association is dedicated to protecting and serving the residents of Bedford, Nova Scotia. Our team of approximately 20 volunteers responds to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, and motor vehicle collisions, ensuring safety and support for our community. Join us in our mission to provide vital services and make a difference in Bedford.

To join our team, applicants must possess:

  • a valid driver’s license, minimum Class 5 (not a learner's permit)

  • grade 12 or equivalent education

  • a driver's abstract demonstrating a safe driving record

  • a clean criminal record check

  • Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status

  • ability to communicate in English

  • normal vision and hearing

  • physically and medically fit

  • no phobias of heights or confined spaces

Volunteering is a significant physical and personal commitment. You can expect your obligations to require 20-40 hours of your time per month or more in the event of major emergencies.
